Terms of Service

1. Introduction and acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Folio document translation service ("Service") operated by Folio Ltd, accessible at getfolio.ai.

By uploading a document, making a payment, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Folio is a business-facing service. By using it, you represent that you are acting in a commercial or professional capacity.

2. The Service

Folio provides on-demand document translation. Translation is powered by third-party AI systems including DeepL and Google Gemini.

Folio is a translation tool, not a certified legal or sworn translation service. Translations produced by Folio are not certified, notarised, or attested and are not a substitute for a human-verified sworn translation where one is legally required.

3. Free tier

We offer a free translation of up to 10,000 characters. No account is required. The free tier is intended for evaluation purposes. We reserve the right to limit or withdraw it at any time.

4. Paid tiers and pricing

4.1 Pricing

Paid translations are available on the following tiers:

  • The Snippet — approximately 10,000 characters / 4 pages
  • The Standard — approximately 60,000 characters / 25 pages
  • The Manuscript — approximately 250,000 characters / 100 pages
  • Bundle (10 documents) — any tier, no expiry

Prices are displayed in EUR, USD, and GBP. Prices include VAT where applicable.

4.2 Payment

All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your card details. Payment is charged at the time of purchase.

4.3 Bundles

Bundle credits do not expire and are non-transferable.

5. Refund policy

Because Folio delivers a digital service consumed immediately upon translation, we are generally unable to offer refunds once a translation has been successfully delivered.

Refunds will be issued in the following circumstances:

  • The translation failed to complete and no output was delivered.
  • The output file is corrupted or unreadable and we cannot remedy it within 48 hours.
  • You were charged in error (e.g. a duplicate charge).

To request a refund, email stuart@getfolio.ai within 14 days of the transaction, including your order reference. We will respond within 5 business days.

6. Acceptable use

You must not upload documents that:

  • Contain content that is illegal under Irish, EU, or applicable law.
  • Infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
  • Contain malware, viruses, or other harmful code.
  • Are subject to export controls or sanctions that prohibit their processing by our service providers.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access immediately if we reasonably believe you are in breach of this section.

7. Intellectual property

All rights in the Folio platform, brand, and software remain the property of Folio Ltd.

You retain all intellectual property rights in documents you upload. By uploading a document, you grant Folio a limited, temporary licence to process it solely for the purpose of delivering the translation. This licence terminates when the document is deleted from our systems (within 24 hours of translation completing).

8. Disclaimers and limitations of liability

8.1 No warranty on accuracy

We make no warranty that any translation will be accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose. You are responsible for reviewing translations before relying on them for legal, commercial, medical, or regulatory purposes.

8.2 Service availability

We aim to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend the Service for maintenance at any time.

8.3 Limitation of liability

  • Folio's total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to Folio in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
  • Folio shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, special, or punitive loss, including loss of profit, loss of data, or loss of business opportunity.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Data protection

Your use of the Service is subject to our Privacy Policy, available at getfolio.ai/privacy. The Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms.

10. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ireland.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted at getfolio.ai/terms with a revised effective date. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance.
